About

My introduction to the sport of triathlon happened in 2007. It was then that all the pieces of my endurance sport background came together and allowed me to find enjoyment and success in triathlon. As an age group swimmer I gravitated toward events like the 200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, and distance freestyle. Mixed in with my swimming was a bright soccer career that allowed me to travel and compete throughout the country and internationally. It was during these years that I began to develop the foundation for success in triathlon. During my sophomore year in college I recognized that my potential as an endurance athlete had surpassed my abilities as a soccer player. It was then that I left the fields in favor of the of the open waters and roads.

As my own athletic career took off and saw me develop into one of the region's top amateur athletes, I branched out broaden my involvement with the sport. I began by returning to my roots and becoming a swim coach for a very successful high school program where I coached over 100 student-athletes for four years. My passion for coaching soon matched my that for my own athletic endeavors. I began coaching triathletes after working as a swim coach and officially became a USA Triathlon Level 1 coach in 2014. Working with athletes, whether it be a seasoned ironman or a rookie just breaking into the sport, is tremendously rewarding. My dedication to the field of coaching has only grown in the six years in which I have worked with athletes and in late 2013 Kat Donatello and I formed K2 Elite Performance Coaching.

Aside from coaching, I have developed deep roots in the multisport world. I have worked for the Pumpkinman Triathlon Festival for many years. I've become certified as a USA Triathlon Race Director and have had countless opportunities to deepen my role in the sport as a result.

Triathlon, of course, doesn't define me. While it is something I enjoy immensely, it doesn't come close to competing with my wife, Eileen, or our dog, Nala. They're a support network like no other and are there for me regardless of how my day went as an athlete, coach, or RD. Triathlon isn't something you can do without supportive loved ones and I am fortunate to have these two behind me every step of the way.
